A Snapshot of Your Day
A gas-fired power plant is to be converted to hydrogen operation to reduce future CO2 emissions. I would like to keep many components from the existing hardware setup of the gas turbine auxiliary system. Hereby it is important to consider the thermodynamic and operational boundary conditions to find the right configuration.
Since there are various virtual meetings with colleagues and customers coming up today, I can also work from home for up to 45% as part of the "new way of working".
I start my day with a short synchronization meeting with my team. In order to be prepared for the meeting in the afternoon with the supplier for the hydrogen system I cross-check the specific gas turbine auxiliary system configuration in SAP and my corresponding component requirement specification for the supplier.
During that meeting we have agreed that I will be on site next month for an acceptance test. In alignment with the overall project lead I will also accompany the first time application on site later this year.
For the rest of the day, I'm finalizing my technical offer for a turbine upgrade on another GT series.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Definition and design of auxiliary systems in Service-Focused R&D projects. This includes the detailed design or modification of specific hardware components including piping and definition of changes in operation modes and I&C
- Generation of technical offerings for upgrade products for several frame types in close alignment with service negotiation team, core engine and module engineering
- Execution of first time application of customer order projects with special focus on auxiliary system design including testing and validation
- Generation of customer studies for site specific modifications like e.g. Hydrogen upgrades or grid stabilizing measures
What You Bring
- Master-Degree in mechanical Engineering, process or chemical engineering or comparable working experience. PhD optional
- Several years of professional experience of thermal turbomachinery (e.g. gas turbines). Basic knowledge of maintenance concepts and operation concept of large energy-generating components is desirable
- Advanced skills in MS-Office. Additional skills in SAP, Teamcenter, Python, Matlab or Rohr2 calculation would be beneficial
- Being able to think from the customer’s perspective to optimize the technical scope of the project. Available for customer discussions to define new positions for AUX-equipment
- Innovative, communicative team player with the desire to actively shape his environment. Being comfortably working with colleagues in multiple time zones
- Ability to establish relationships and build networks in a global team setup, interface with other engineering component groups and project management.
- Very good verbal, written communication skills in English and German
