The International School of Stuttgart e.V. is a non-profit Kindergarten through 12th grade, NEASC accredited, IB World School offering an international curriculum to a student body of about 900 from over 40 nations. Among its strengths are its student-centred and holistic approach to learning and its commitment to professional development and emphasis on student pastoral care.
For our annual English language immersion summer camp for children between 4 -12 years of age, we are looking to hire:
Summer Camp Instructors
(Kurzfristige Beschäftigung)
Starting End of June 2024. This Position is until End of August 2024.
The Summer Camp Instructor provides care, supervision, and program facilitation for their assigned campers in each weekly session. The Summer Camp Instructor is responsible for the general welfare and safety of participants as well as leading engaging recreational programming as needed and communicating day-to-day activities to parents. Summer Camp Instructors are responsible for supporting activities through either leading them or supporting the staff member leading them. Instructors are the first point of contact for children and parents in their assigned groups. Hours may be subject to flexibility depending on program needs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to assist with the oversight of summer program, activities, and field trips
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and children’s needs.
- Have a genuine interest in the development of youth and commitment to their safety and well-being
- Make sure all equipment and supplies are ready and set-up for activities in advance and that it is properly cleaned up and stored at the conclusion of the activity or day.
- Assist programming staff with organizing and monitoring day camp activities to ensure maximum participation and enjoyment from campers
- Maintain children’s schedule and assist in leading recreational activities as well as oversee the flow of children throughout the day
-Model positive behaviour and leadership for participants and fellow staff members.
-Engage with children and demonstrate commitment to their development and enjoyment in the summer.
-Be responsible for the general well-being of participants and communicate relevant information to parents in a professional and discrete manner.
-Schedules may be subject to shifts depending on needs
Required skills and knowledge:
- German work permit or eligibility to apply for one
- Health insurance
- High energy, self-starter with positive outlook and flexibility
- Experience and/or desire to work with children and youth in a camp setting
- Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
CPR & First Aid or ability to obtain training
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working
with, and the protection of children and young people
- Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young
people
- Value and respects the views and needs of children and young people
Additional experience considered an asset:
- Camp experience
- Experience working with children and/or in a diverse, multicultural environment
- Second language, preferably German
May require working in an outdoor environment.
