Munich Re Markets structures and administers bespoke reinsurance solutions for Munich Re’s life insurance clients with a focus on clients’ products in the savings, retirement and investment space. These transactions typically involve combinations of financial markets and insurance risks while delivering a capital and/or risk management impact relevant to an insurer’s corporate finance management and planning.
Within this business unit, the team is responsible for a broad range of tasks around monitoring and reporting of this business, with divisional interfaces to the group’s risk management, reserving and controlling divisions as well as the legal risk carrier and others. Current challenges do also include the introduction of the standards IFRS 17 and IFRS 9, the latter of which is applicable to the larger part of our portfolio.
While reporting duties are formally recurring, their content is always different due to a variety of reasons and effects. Further to these duties, we shape our future by ultimately striving for the highest possible automation of our processes. A high degree of automation is a must to scale up our business further and to enable the division to succeed with its ambition.

Your Job
- Perform, analyze and communicate daily calculations for reinsurance business with a particular focus of inherent market risks
- A variety of tasks around both quarterly and annual closings, with impact on the division's results under IFRS (P&L) and Solvency II
- Take over further reporting duties around the business with focus on market risks, such as the liquidity reporting
- Enhance existing and develop new tools used for the automation of recurring calculations and the analysis of the underlying results (mainly in R) as well as drive the investigation of observed effects
- Integrate new transactions
Your Profile
- University degree in mathematics, physics or comparable education
- Proven educational background, preferably even working experience with capital markets and standard products traded therein
- Coding skills and numerical experience with good knowledge in R (additional Java knowledge would be an asset)
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
- Actuarial training or experience with trading systems are beneficial
- You are motivated by challenging tasks and have the ability to work independently and detail-oriented when needed
- Fluent business German and English
