Start your Munich Re journey within reinsurance accounting in the division RIA LH global finance process automation and development

Munich Re, the world’s largest reinsurer, is looking for an intern in our reinsurance accounting team with data science background. Becoming an intern will provide you the chance to gain insights into the processes and work practices of global accounting departments and their interfaces. The team you are supporting is driving the global accounting process digitalization. Your internship can be first (next to) fulltime and then switch to part-time. It should last at least six months. The position is based in Munich.

Your Job

• Assisting in data analysis and preparation work
• You will support the roll-out of Munich Re’s new cloud-native Life Accounting Data Intake solution, contributing in the following areas:
  • You will be enhancing and customizing our data validation framework, leveraging your programming skills in either R, Python or C#
  • You will be supporting the implementation of data analytics use-cases, working with state-of-the-art services such as Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse Analytics and Apache Spark.
  • You will analyze query performance and derive strategies for query optimization in our data warehouse.
  Depending on your interest and skillset, you will have the possibility to gain experience and insights in the areas of CI/CD, cloud security architecture design and confidential computing.

Your Profile

• Undergraduate or postgraduate with major in Data Science/ Actuarial Science/ Insurance / Statistics / Mathematics / Physics are preferred
• Interest in cloud technologies (Azure)
• Programming skills in R, C# or Python are a strong asset
• Prior knowledge of SQL is a plus
• Actuarial mathematics is an advantage

• Affinity for teamwork also internationally

Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit.
