Your Role: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist with a strong background in in physiology, neuroscience, anatomy, and electrophysiology, for the development of innovative bioelectronic therapies focused on modulating vagal nerve signaling to treat diseases where patients lack effective treatment options. As part of our Bioelectronics department, you will be responsible for designing, conducting, and interpreting experimental approaches, supporting the design process for active implants, and coordinating research activities.
Our team is highly cross-functional, and you will work with biologists, engineers, physicians, and data scientists to develop next generation medical devices. In close collaboration with the R&D Director you will contribute to the success of our innovative approaches at the frontier of scientific knowledge in bioelectronic medicine at our headquarters in Darmstadt. Who you are: - PhD, MD, or DVM with at least 3 years post-doctoral experience in academia or industry
- Excellent knowledge of mammalian physiology and anatomy, neuroscience, and pharmacology. Experience with electrophysiology
- Solid understanding of statistics, and high affinity to data science. Preferably knowledge of Python, R, or Matlab
- Good working knowledge in animal science and welfare
- Understanding of translational aspects of therapy development
- Demonstrated scientific problem-solving capability evidenced by excellent record of publications, patents or equivalent achievements
- A nice-to-have is prior exposure to device development, or the medical device design process
