Job Description:
Orangewood Robotics is seeking a diligent and experienced PLC Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the programming, integration, and testing of PLC controls for our state-of-the-art 6-Axis Robotic Arm, as well as other innovative robotic products in our portfolio.
Responsibilities:
1. Program, integrate, and troubleshoot PLC controls for our robotic systems, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
2. Collaborate closely with our Mechanical, Electrical, and Robotics teams to design and implement control systems, control algorithms, and advanced control techniques in our robotic systems.
3. Configure communication protocols between PLCs and other devices, such as sensors, actuators, and robot controllers.
4. Leverage your knowledge of ROS integration to ensure smooth and efficient interaction between PLCs and ROS-enabled robotic systems.
5. Validate and test the performance of PLC-controlled robotic systems under various operating conditions, diagnosing and correcting issues as they arise.
6. Document PLC programs, control strategies, and relevant procedures for reference and training purposes.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience in PLC programming and controls integration.
3. Proficiency in programming languages used for PLC, such as Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, or Structured Text.
4. Familiarity with ROS and its integration with PLC would be a plus.
5. Solid understanding of robotic systems, including control strategies, algorithms, and advanced control techniques.
6. Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex control systems.
7. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
