The work schedule for this position is:
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
The incumbent works as a Telephone Operator at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, providing 24/7 switchboard service for the Embassy in Berlin, the Consulates in Munich, Hamburg, Leipzig, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt, as well as for the U.S. Tri-Mission in Vienna, Austria. They perform rotating shift work including nights, weekends and holidays. While on shift duty, they are required to assume sole responsibility for all Mission switchboard operations.
EXPERIENCE: please address this factor in your ERA application under major duties and responsibilities.
Minimum of one year work experience as an operator on an electronic switchboard system or general office work in a customer service-oriented environment is required.
Completion of secondary school (German: Realschule, America: American High School Diploma or GED) is required.
LANGUAGE: please address both language requirements in your ERA application.
Position requires fluent language skills in English (speaking/reading/writing).
Position requires fluent language skills in German (speaking/reading/writing).
This may be tested.
