Your Mission
As a Propulsion Test Engineer at the test site in Reischach (Bavaria, Germany) you will join a team of engineers and technicians performing development and verification tests of subcomponents of liquid rocket engines and integrated subsytems of our Spectrum rocket. In addition to test operations, you will conduct maintenance activities and upgrades on the existing test rigs, as well as designing and building small test set-ups to cover ad-hoc testing needs. You will work in a tightly knit team to ensure safe and efficient operations, while closely cooperating with the design engineers to enable fast iterations throughout the development cycle of their systems.
More specifically, you will:
- Plan, manage and conduct test campaigns in cooperation with development engineers
- Take care of test preparations
- Support development engineers with the pre-processing of test data
- Participate in maintenance activities and troubleshooting on existing test benches
- Assist in designing and realising upgrades to existing test benches
- Designing and building small test set-ups for ad-hoc testing needs
- Handle and integrate test articles
- Ensure safe operations by using and evolving existing protocols
Who you are and what you have
- Relevant engineering qualification, engineering bachelor's or master's degree in the field of aerospace, mechanical engineering or similar
- Hands on experience in development or testing of complex systems, preferably involving extreme operating conditions such as cryogenic temperatures, high pressures, or high temperatures
- Experienced in test data acquisition, reduction and evaluation
- Capable of designing fluid and mechanical systems from theoretical concept to realization and commissioning
- Experience in multidisciplinary troubleshooting
- Physical dexterity is required as working in confined spaces is necessary. Able to lift and carry 25kg
- Willingness to work outdoors
- Ability to perform in high-stress environments, maintaining focus and concentration for long durations
- Adjusting self-sufficiently and quickly to a changing work environment
- Highly organized, effective team player with high attention to detail and can-do attitude
- Communicating actively and openly in a constructive manner
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience with fluid systems and piping/tubing
- Experience with at least one programming language (Python, Matlab, C, C#...)
- Experience with instrumentation and control systems
- Knowledge about rocket propulsion systems
- Knowledge of hazardous systems (cryogenic, flammable, explosive or similar)
- EU category B driving license
