- Engineer for a scope of work within one of Iberdrola’s offshore projects worldwide, providing engineering advice, assessment and recommendations to ensure delivery of a scope of work within time, to budget and quality following industry best practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and the Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
- Provide advice on engineering solutions / risk levels and commercial agreements to the package, to ensure that cost effective technical solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the risk profile is fully understood by the package.
- Ensure that all assessment, advice and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with all internal procedures and industry best practice, and that sufficient technical and commercial due diligence (whether internal or external) exists to support those business decisions.
- Deliver consistent, high quality, cost effective engineering advice in relation to the scope of work within the packages.
- Resource the appropriate organisation structure to ensure delivery of the scope of work to programme and budget.
- Implement the certification process with independent verification bodies (where applicable) to reduce design risk and enhance asset value.
- Ensure that health and safety and environmental requirements are fully considered and adhered to in engineering advice/design to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
- Implement the inspection and commissioning of appropriate aspects of offshore plant to ensure that assets are supplied and installed to the required quality and engineering standards.
- Maintain awareness of the latest technical and commercial developments in (civil/structural/electrical/SCADA/wind turbine) technology that has the potential to reduce cost and risk, or improve safety.
- Comply with relevant offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices and quality requirements for the scope of work to ensure that the scope of work is delivered according to specification, budget and programme without compromising safety.
Ensure appropriate lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm development and construction are captured and shared across the different Offshore Projects and collaborate with senior management to ensure that lessons learnt are implemented
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience of designing and working in the offshore industry, preferably offshore wind.
- Experience of working in teams involved in large projects in international environments.
- Pro-active and diligent approach.
- Experience in dealing with health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction, marine and offshore projects.
- Competency in future planning.
- Experience in delivery of engineering scopes of work, ideally including good experience of contract and programme management, cost and risk control.
- Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with senior colleagues.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and develop engineering decisions.
- Excellent report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarize key parameters and drivers impacting the work scope.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Good planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implements mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.
