This Engineering position resorts within the HSE function, under HSE Performance & Governance within OPEA
Within RWE Renewables OPEA we own and operate complex physical assets with the potential for significant release of energy and resultant harm. The Electrical Risk Engineer aims to effectively manage the risk associated with failure or malfunction of these physical assets.
We provide technical guidance and documentation to the business and optimise the value of our generating assets across their complete lifecycle. We provide OPEA with tools, expertise and challenge to capture the full benefits of scale and engineering excellence.
Your responsibilities:
- Identify initiatives and develop strategies needed to increase the maturity of Asset Governance, ensuring that it provides a life-cycle approach and is proportionate to the types of hazards present in the business.
- Provide technical and risk management direction, co-ordination and support and for the production of Case to Operate and Operational Plant Modification assessments.
- Support the consistent application of the operational asset engineering risk and opportunity management (AERO) process across the global fleet. The role will ensure appropriate mitigations to multi-€m individual risks, with a significant cumulative impact upon the business.
- Continue to develop the existing methodology/processes and tools regarding Asset & Plant Safety (APS) management whilst reflecting the scope and needs of the business.
- Actively engage with business functions such as Engineering, Development, Construction and Operations to ensure Asset & Plant Safety related risks are managed effectively (e.g. utilising BowTie methodology; APS related incidents).
- Ensure Asset & Plant Safety standards and lessons learned are adopted in RWE OPEA technical specifications and support Technical Due Diligence (TDD) processes.
- Perform the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regards to Asset and Plant Safety related safety critical information.
- Proficient in demonstration of ALARP and built a Safety Case.
- Coordinate incident management and process Safety Alert
Your profile:
- Successfully completed university studies or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of significant practical experience and knowledge gained in the engineering, operation and/or maintenance of industrial assets and of asset management and technical risk management concepts, principles, tools and techniques, ideally in an international environment.
- Relevant experience and technical competence in relation to engineering assets.
- High level of reliability and self-initiative, precise, persistent and thorough, able to set and maintain quality standards for themselves, with a detail-orientated analytical and strategic mindset
- Solid communication skills and good interpersonal skills: able to prepare and deliver structured and compelling reports and written and verbal presentations on complex technical topics.
- Able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, with an ability to work effectively in situations where stakeholders have conflicting interests and priorities.
- Able and willing to conduct international travel regularly and upon request to support the business across the various countries in which OPEA is active
- Business fluent in written and spoken English, additional languages desirable.
