Description
The Sr. Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day aspects of Shockwave Medical’s accounting operations and will play a critical role on the Finance team. Our ideal candidate has an exceptional work ethic and is ready to roll up his/her sleeves. Additionally, the candidate should be comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. The Sr. Accountant will report directly to the FInance Manager of the EMEA region.
Essential Job Functions
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures including the review and implementation of process and system changes;
- Receive, process and verify accounts payable invoice information in ERP system;
- Prepare and document journal entries and reconciliations relating to balance sheet accounts for multiple international entities, including but not limited to prepaids, accounts payable, bank, intercompany, accruals, payroll, VAT;
- Prepare accounts payable payments batches for further processing;
- Prepare monthly intercompany funding for international entities;
- Issue invoices for the international entities for intercompany billings;
- Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for international entities, including flux analysis;
- Prepare support for international compliance requests;
- Prepare support for statutory audit of the financial statements for international entities;
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls over financial reporting (SOX404b);
- Ability to work under pressure and work flexible hours when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements - 5-7+ years of accounting-related work experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting concepts (e.g. accruals recognition).
- Experience with Oracle Fusion is a plus
- Fluent in English, any other European language is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Advanced degree in accounting preferred or equivalent experience.
- High level of attention to detail, aptitude for managing deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality over all finance and accounting matters and information.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to various levels in the organization.
- Must be self-motivated and function independently, driven towards superior effort and performance and the desire to work in a very dynamic environment.
- Strong commitment to a team approach and awareness of team and individual success dependencies.
