At the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology (HIF), innovative technologies for the circulareconomy are developed to provide and use mineral and metal-bearing raw materials more efficiently and to recycle them in an environmentally friendly way.

The Department of Exploration is looking for a Remote Sensing Research Engineer (f/m/d) (subject to project approval).

Your tasks:

• Collaboration in a multi-disciplinary international project on the monitoring of mining facilities using Earth-Observation and ground geophysical data

• Application of existing tools for EO data processing (including land-cover classification, geological and environmentak mapping, change detection and resolution enhancement)

• Merging these tools into a unified workflow aimed at monitoring mining deposits

• Compilation in a Python-based code package

• Collaboration with project partners from research and industry sectors

Your profile:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in fields such as Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, or related areas

• Proficiency in Python programming, machine learning and utilisation of open-source EO data processing tools

• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and interdisciplinary environment

• Strong command of the English language
